Maniak
Black Thrashing Genocide CD
Review from Metalcrypt: "After a trippy, slap feedback filled (if not ultimately pointless) intro, it soon becomes clear as to what sort of bands Phillipino metal mongers Maniak worship. Within seconds, Black Thrashing Genocide transports you back to the early to mid 80s, when the 1st wave of Black Metal crawled kicking and screaming into existence. Much like Sabbat or Abigail - the Japanese ones, naturally - this is all about unashamedly aping the noisy, thrashy blackened sounds that were created by the likes of early Venom and Bathory, with a gnarly ejaculate of Sodom squirted into the mixing pot. In fact, you only need to add in a few virgins, goats, and unholy semen (regular semen just doesn't have the same piquancy), and you have Maniak's Raison d'être right there. The bass heavy mix does a lot to keep the rumbling, dirty sound these guys create uncomfortable to listen to (as it should be, I might add), with noisy riffs squealing and writhing out chaotic songs about satan, thunder, goats and raising your damn fist for METAL. Having déjà vu? Think you've heard it all before? Of course you have, but it doesn't stop it from being thoroughly enjoyable. They certainly have the enthusiasm and nuts to back it up, not to mention the riffs!"

Marblebog
Forestheart CD - Autopsy Kitchen Records - AKR017
Originally released in 2005 on simple tape only format (later to be re-released on tape again!), Marblebog's conceptual blend of anything but jovial ambient passages and deeply personal as well as mature, nature and global depopulation inspired black metal eventually bled it's way onto a super limited CD pressing of 500 copies. All of which made their rounds across the world to end up in the collections of the most die hard and adventurous music lovers and underground black metal fanatics. When we first heard "Forestheart" here at AKR our first thought was to immediately get this album on vinyl...and we wanted to be the one's to do it! Taking it a step further, we contacted Marblebog's sole creator and musician: Vorgrov, and set up a deal to finally make this album available on not just vinyl but a CD format that will be available to a much wider audience for the first time. We re-worked the entire layout so that the only thing that resembles the original pressing is the cover art which is as it should be in our opinion. The long awaited (by us mostly) vinyl LP version is limited to 500 copies on clear vinyl, containing a full color 2 sided insert and this vinyl will never be re-pressed as with all AKR vinyl releases. Out now!

Methadrone
Better Living (Through Chemistry) CD
Methadrone has come a long way since its conception as a 2-bassed sludge/drone monolith. Craig Pillard (who has been part of Evoken, Incantation, e.a.) gradually expanded his sound through experiment with acoustic guitars and other vocal collaborations. Better Living (Through Chemistry) is pushing beyond the boundaries of traditional doom music, resulting in well balanced atmospheric pieces of music which make this third full album the apogee of Methadrone's oeuvre this far. On this innovative journey, that bridges the gaps between doom, drone, dark ambient, wave and even neo-folk, Pillard sided with Jason Wallach (The Unquiet Void), Tara Vanflower (Lycia) and Thierry Arnal (fragment.) to present their next step in the evolution of gloomy music. Deluxe oversized packaging.

Mondrian Oak
Through Early Seed CD
Mondrian Oak conceived in autumn 2007, and slowly paved the path to launch their debut album Through Early Seed. These Italians shared the stage with a lot of great bands (Zippo, Gerda, Last Minute To Jaffna, Viscera/// e.a.), which most certainly helped them to shape their own voice within the genre: they have crafted a sound which is evocative and psychedelic merely with the classic rock instruments, devoid of excess. With their loud, doomy and gloomy outbursts that alternate with intimate acoustic parts, their music is situated on the crossroads between postrock and postcore. The maturity and originality they put in the arrangements of the composition makes this a debut album that truly stands out, and predicts a promising future!

Mt.
Teach Your Children How To Think, Not What To Think CD
It has been a while since we heard new tunes by the band branded by The Silent Ballet as “one of the shining new lights of the UK post-rock scene”. The EP contains 4 brand new tracks that push beyond 2006 critically acclaimed Lethologica. During the years of silence the band progressed as songwriters, which is reflected in every track on the Teach Children How To Think, Not What To Think EP. Intelligently layered structures entwined with amazingly crafted melodies leave no room for interpretation: Mt. are back and determined to permanently claim a place in the spotlights.
